Generate a list of networking contacts

To create your primary list of contacts, use the list below to brainstorm names of several people who might help if you called on them. Remember, the people your primary contacts lead you to (secondary contacts) and the people the secondary contacts lead you to (tertiary contacts) are most often the ones who have information about job leads.

Current or Former Professors, PIs
Alumni Database (from your undergraduate and/or graduate school)
Contacts you meet at career panels, career fairs, or other career-related events
Family: Father, Mother, Step-Father, Step-Mother, Sister, Brother, Step-Sister, Step-Brother, Aunt, Uncle, Cousin, Grandparents, Nieces, Nephews, Partner's Relatives
Friends, Partner's Friends
Contacts through your children (teachers, directors, pediatricians)
Roommates/Classmates in High School/College/Graduate School
Former or Current Employers or Employers of Those You Know
Neighbors/Community Members
Members of your religious group/organization
Political Party Affiliations
People With Whom You Volunteer
Members of Social Organizations You Are Involved In
Members of Professional Associations
Accountants, Lawyers, Bankers, Insurance Agents
Doctors, Dentists, Optometrists
Stylists, Stockbrokers, Mechanics
People Who Work in Personnel, Placement, Search Agencies
